#2 Faces Project - Ynys

I would like to introduce you to the second participant of the Faces Project, a personal project to showcase ordinary women overcoming ordinary daily issues - insecurities, lack of self confidence, low self-esteem and self-love, or just wanting to rediscover who they are after challenges in life.

Ynys nominated for the project after seeing photos of her friend that I took.

I saw pictures… taken of my friend… looking graceful and strong. I thought - I’s like to see what Amelia sees in me through a lens, and what shows in my face at this age and stage of life. I guess I wanted to see if I still looked ok in pictures - and to see what it felt like to be in front of a camera again.

Ynys and I had so much fun in the studio - experimenting with using Plexiglas like a window, using crystals to shoot through (didn’t work the way I wanted) and jumping on lounges.

The image(s) chosen by Ynys were ones that she felt were reflective of her personality - one showing her contemplative side and the other her fun side.

When asked how seeing the photos of herself changed the way she viewed herself, Ynys replied:

It was a bit of a shock to see my face has changed with age, but it was good to feel like who I am still comes through.

And what she would tell her friends:

This is a special way to learn more about who you are and how you present to the world.
